We're All Domed......again!

Looby is right. We're heading for another gigantic, farcical, incompetent and idiotic and yet somehow typically epic British fuck up aka the 2012 Olympics. How do we do it? Is it something in our psyche? Is it all horribly inevitable? If it does happen, the concreting over of the Manor Garden allotments will be the saddest part of the whole sorry tale. The initial estimate of £2.375 billion for the games has already risen to an estimated £8 billion with no budget ceiling in sight yet. £400 million in the revised budget is to pay for consultants to help keep the costs down!!!

I haven't been able to get the allotment predicament out of my mind. So do they let just anyone sign the petition? Anyway, the allotment is probably doomed. If it remained a garden that everyone had to walk around, you know how gardeners are, there would be people from all over the world rubbing shoulders just to get a look. And then they'd start talking the universal garden language and laughing about the oddities and manure and such, well, you know it might just lead to world peace. And you know we cannot live with that so, of course something must be done about those gardeners. The whole idea of allotments is probably quite troubling to some powers that be. But what do I know. I listen to sunflowers & snakes. I'm happy to come over and help build a wall around it if needed (loads & loads of compost me thinks).

Well, then. I see I cannot sign. But, really, what a wonderful opportunity to pursue sharing this garden and community with others:

"A campaign is underway to protect the allotments and encourage a more imaginative Olympic development which includes this special place with its healthy, green lifestyles and vibrant community."
