It was not my intent to go 'a soalin' today; nor indeed my intent to honour the dead, or eat a doughnut or to plant an apple, a pear, a plum and a cherry. As it turned out I planted two apple trees, one pear, one plum and one cherry tree. I fully intend to eat a doughnut later,(near enuf a soal cake as makes no odds). No objection to honouring the dead either. If I knock on someones door and plead - 'please good missus....a soal cake', I fully expect some funny looks or a thumping.
"Soal, a soal, a soal cake
please good missus, a soal cake
an apple, a pear, a plum and a cherry
any good thing to make us all merry"
This is not the P P & M of 'A Soalin' by Noel Stooky version. Anyone remember that one?
